Extremely danceable and extreme cool. Jungle By Night is equal to pure pleasure. Musical cheer that fits perfectly well with Booch! They funk and groove like true African musicians. Their musical hearts beat somewhere between Ethiopian jazz and Nigerian afrobeat. These nine Amsterdam youngster (ages 16 to 21) like to funk, groove on soul and flirt their heart’s content with jazz, whenever they see the chance. Noone will stop this party-ing afro-pop-train that drives on from the platform where Kyteman left some time ago.
Last year the nine boys played a few festivals, like De Affaire and Intro The Great Wide Open, and this year, after a stunning performance on Eurosonic/Noorderslag, they’re at almost every Dutch and Belgian summer festival. Well, they also did the support for John Legend and The Roots, and for their heroes Mulatu Astatke and Orchestre Poly-Rythmo. And they even got to play with former band members of afrobeat-patriarch (and their biggest example) Fela Kuti. The higly recommended debut-EP was released in spring and sounds amazing.
In short, Booch! 2011 will be a massive dance party thanks to THE sunny summer revelation of the year: Jungle By Night! They’ll swingto the proverbial roof.
